Delayed not denied

Tommy Lasorda used to say “just because God delays, does not mean that God denies.”  Have you been “delayed” or thought you were at an end only to find out that you hadn’t reached your destination yet?  Stanford researcher Carol Dweck says people with or developing a growth mindset can use the tool of “not yet”, as in they haven’t accomplished the goal yet.  Both Lasorda and Dweck realize that we run into challenges that slow us down or seem to block our way but may be there to force us to further hone our skills on our way to greater.

Greater pushes each of us to our limits at times.  Sometimes we perceive those limits to be less than what the obstacle requires, and we still have growth to complete.  Further growth challenges us like a tough run or workout where we expect a specific finish line only to find out that we were mistaken and a significant chunk remains.  It can be like a punch to the gut when you realize it and think of the work yet to do.  Will you have the perseverance and mindset to conquer those moments of doubt that come with the additional challenge so that you are one “delayed” not “denied”?
